BSO Set Works Live – Key Stage 4 Concert Friday 13th November 11am - 12.30pm Turner Sims Concert Hall

  • Turner Sims Concert Hall Building 52 Salisbury Rd Southampton SO17 1BJ (map)

Turner Sims and SIOW Music are really excited to invite your school to this free concert performed by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO), this concert will give your students the unique experience of hearing set works from the GCSE and BTEC syllabus live, in a professional music venue. Presented by Patrick Bailey, an ensemble of BSO musicians will perform four set works in the first half, with the possibility of opportunities for students to perform alongside them. We will consult with the schools who book to choose works from the relevant exam boards. This will give your students a deeper understanding of the repertoire as well as opportunities to enhance their performance skills.

The second half of the concert focuses on composition. The BSO musicians will perform a new work by Patrick Bailey which will incorporate ideas from your school. These ideas will be submitted via an activity that you will be sent in advance of the concert to complete at school. The composer, who is also presenting the concert, will explain their process, approaches and techniques to give your students further insight into composition.

This concert is a fantastic opportunity for students studying GCSE or BTEC music, as well as students considering choosing these courses in the future. The concert will last 1 hour 30 minutes with an interval. Tickets for the concert are FREE for you and your students.
