Young Sounds

Southampton & Isle of Wight Music Hub is proud to partner with Young Sounds UK to deliver the national Connect programme, helping young people continue their musical journey beyond their first experiences of learning music in school.

Connect is designed to support children and young people from low-income families, ensuring they can continue developing their musical skills and access opportunities that help them progress. Participants receive instrumental lessons, access to an instrument, membership of music groups and ensembles, and a personalised plan to support their musical development.

Young people on the programme are also invited to termly events and workshops called Get Togethers where they can explore different musical styles, meet other young musicians, and gain valuable performance experience. A personal bursary is available to help remove financial barriers and support ongoing participation.

In addition, Young Sounds UK's network of Connectors helps all young people and families in the area find local musical opportunities, including funding, groups to join, progression routes, and performance opportunities.
